Since the release of time@work and expense@work version 2.5 the upgrade of the system is handled automatically when the new version of the application is installed. See here for further details. For earlier versions of time@work and expense@work (eXpense) the upgrade process requires more time.

Version 2.5 and 3.1 of time@work and expense@work introduced a number of significant changes to the applications which affected the underlying data structures. Because of these structural changes, any client who is upgrading from Versions 2.3.X or 2.4.X of time@work or expense@work will need to reserve consultancy time to carry out the upgrade.

The upgrade process will require between 3 and 5 days of consultancy time depending on whether Training is required on the new functionality. The upgrade process is as follows:

Upgrade Process (2.3.X or 2.4.X to the latest Version).

  1. Database is frozen, backed up, zipped and either emailed or FTP'd to systems@work.

  2. Database is converted by our technicians to the latest Version (approximately 1 - 2 days of chargeable consultancy).

  3. Database is brought onsite by an installation consultant who will uninstall the old version of time@work or expense@work and then install, configure and test the new version with the updated database. (approximately 1 day of chargeable consultancy).

  4. Training on the new version of expense@work or time@work should also be scheduled and this can take place over a 1 or 2 day period.
