In order to restore and access a time@work or expense@work database there are a number of steps which need to be undertaken depending on the version of the software under which the database has been backed up.

Note: This article is intended to assist our Partners Support Desks to restore time@work and expense@work Databases.

For all versions of time@work and expense@work (eXpense) prior to version 2.5 (i.e. 2.3 and 2.4) it is not possible to restore a database under a different version of the software. The version under which the database is restored must exactly match the version from which the database was taken Please see this article for further details.

From Version 2.5 onwards it has been possible to restore a database into a later version of time@work or expense@work. Please see this article for further details.

Irrespective of what version is being restored, if the Database is being restored from a different instance of SQL Server (for example it was backed up on a Clients SQL Server and Restored on a Support Desk SQL Server) then the following Script must be run against the database after it has been restored (in order to reset the SQL DB Owner):

sp_change_users_login 'update_one', 'TWAdmin', 'TWAdmin'
