Credit Card Receipt Matching

Credit Card Receipt Matching

Image

Introduction

One of the most common requested features for managing Credit Card transactions within [email protected] is the ability to automatically match images of receipts taken on the [email protected] Mobile App with incoming transactions from a Credit Card Provider.

This article summarises one way in which our software handles this requirement.

The key steps are:

  1. The employee incurs an expense which they charge to their company credit card.
  2. The user takes a picture of their receipt using the mobile phone application.
  3. The App will use inbuilt OCR technology to read data from the receipt and populate data in [email protected]
  4. When the credit card transactions are loaded into [email protected], an automatic matching of the receipt image to the credit card transaction will take place.

Walkthrough Example

Employee incurs a credit card expense and takes a picture of it with their mobile phone.

The App will automatically read the receipt using OCR technology and store the form in the system until the credit card transactions are received from the bank.

You can see in the screenshot below the details that the OCR process has automatically captured.

When the employee's credit card statement is received from the bank it will appear in [email protected] and the employee will receive a notification that their statement has arrived.

When the employee opens their credit card statement they will receive a notification that the system has automatically matched receipt images to credit card lines.

In this case it has found receipts for line 1 and line 4 on the statement (line 4 was the image used in this example).

The Employee (or an Authoriser) can click the paperclip icon to open the receipt and review it.
