Today we started our campaign to highlight and hopefully reduce the amount of paper flowing through Corporate Britain. We started with Press Interviews where we discussed the role that Government (and particularly HMRC) play in adding to the paper mountains that we create in our offices.
Ironically, for a Government committed to reducing Global Warming but also extending its investment in Technology, HMRC has been slow to embrace electronic formats when it comes to the Employee Expense Claims. Despite the advances in technology whereby solutions such as expense@work can accept scanned documents, HMRC still insist that envelopes (or shoe box’s!) of paper receipts are kept for 7 years in their original format. Such nonsense has no place in the 21st century.
